The five-day ONTAP 9 Administration & MetroCluster Installation (CDOTMC) course comprises of 2 parts, with the first part focussing on Clustered Data ONTAP Administration followed by two days looking at MetroCluster Installation. The first three days use lecture and hands-on exercises to teach basic administration of clustered Data ONTAP. In this part of the course, you will configure and manage a Data ONTAP cluster. You will practice working with Data ONTAP features and managing your storage systems with the CLI and UI interfaces. This course also discusses network management fundamentals, basic protocols that are used to access your data, and how to protect, manage, and monitor your clustered storage environment. With this course, you will become proficient with Data ONTAP Snapshot and familiar with SnapRestore, SnapMirror, SnapVault and NDMP technologies used to replicate and restore mission-critical data in the enterprise. Backup and restore operations are taught using the NetApp storage system command line and OnCommand System Manager. Data ONTAP 7-Mode administrators will benefit from comparisons to earlier Data ONTAP versions to help them master the basics of clustered Data ONTAP. MetroCluster software is a unique high-availability and disaster-recovery solution. In the second part of this course, you learn how to cable and set up a MetroCluster environment. Using active, participatory exercises, you practice the configuration and verification steps. You also learn to identify component failures and practice recovery steps.

By the end of this ONTAP 9 & MetroCluster course, you should be able to:

    • Describe how ONTAP 9 fits into NetApps Cloud and Data Fabric strategy
    • Identify supported ONTAP platforms
    • Define ONTAP cluster components
    • Create a cluster
    • Manage ONTAP administrators
    • Configure and manage storage resources
    • Configure and manage networking resources
    • Describe a Storage Virtual Machines (SVMs) role in NetApps storage architecture
    • Create and configure an SVM
    • Create and manage FlexVols
    • Implement storage efficiency features
    • Create protocol servers within an SVM
    • Upgrade and revert ONTAP patches and releases
    • Describe the levels on which ONTAP protects data
    • Describe the major architectural components of a MetroCluster environment in ONTAP 9
    • Cable nodes, back-end FC switches and FibreBridge devices
    • Set up bridges and back-end FC switches
    • Configure the clusters at both sites in a MetroCluster environment
